My Favorite Cleaning Products
Jennifer Burr, Owner of Spotless, LLC

Sometimes the chore of cleaning house utterly and completely gets away from me. Maybe I was too
distracted to get around to unloading the dishwasher last night, and now the sink is full of dirty dishes.

Or, I took the kids outside to enjoy the nice weather and forgot to transfer the wet clothes to the dryer.
It happens to the best of us!

But when the housework seems overwhelming, and you just don’t know where to start in order to catch
back up, it might help if you find the cleaning products you use pleasant. I know, I know, what kind of
cleaning products could possibly be pleasant!? Well, I’ll tell you! I like to keep an arsenal on-hand that
helps make the tasks a little less daunting. If you choose to also sing Mary Poppins’ “A Spoonful of
Sugar” while you clean, I won’t judge!

I always start with changing the bedsheets because having a smooth and tidy bed will make you feel like
you can conquer the world! Recently, I discovered Tyler laundry detergent. If you’re familiar with this
brand of candle, you already know how great their products smell. The laundry detergent will definitely
help you feel luxurious, and the Diva scent is downright heavenly. It makes laundry day more enjoyable,
and it makes changing the sheets much less of a chore! Next up is dusting. I like to use Swiffer dusters
for décor, picture frames, and ceiling fans, but my furniture always gets that good ol’ fashioned Pledge.
If you only dry dust your furniture, the wood won’t look as pretty, and the dust will come back quicker.
Once I’ve moved onto the kitchen, I like to fill the sink with hot water and dish soap. I swear by Ivory
classic scent. It cleans up all manner of messes, and the smell takes me right back to my Granny’s
kitchen. I do not like to use strong chemicals on kitchen surfaces, so I use this hot, soapy water on the
inside of the microwave, the granite counters, the gas range, the kitchen table, my twins’ highchair trays
– anything! If you have stainless steel appliances in your kitchen, my favorite cleaner is Weiman.
Although the wipes are nice, they can dry out pretty quickly, so I have come to prefer the spray bottle
instead.

In the bathrooms, I like to continue with the “sink of soapy water” method, but here I use a splash of
Mr. Clean instead. I prefer the Meadows & Rain scent – not too strong, but unmistakably clean. I’m a big
fan of Comet powder in the bathtub and also in the toilet bowl. And when it comes to showers, if you
haven’t tried Scrubbing Bubbles yet, what are you waiting for? It really does make the job much quicker
and easier.

Cleaning the floors is sometimes my most dreaded chore. With two toddlers and two big kids, the floors
are an absolute nightmare of crumbs and dirt. But I have sworn by my Shark vacuum and steam mop for
a decade and a half – they never let me down. I love a vacuum that can easily transition between
hardwood and carpet, and my Shark Navigator does just that. When it comes to mopping, you just can’t
beat steam! It truly cleans tough messes, it dries quickly, and it leaves no residue – what’s not to love? If
my hardwood floors need a quick touch-up instead of a deep cleaning, I like to use Bona Hardwood
Floor Cleaner with a microfiber mop. This leaves my floors looking gorgeous – at least until naptime
ends.

These are some of my favorite products to help make cleaning the house a little more enjoyable. (I
might have forgotten to mention the red wine and Billy Joel playlist!) What do you love to use? I’d love
to hear your feedback!
